what to expect during your appointment...

Expect to spend 2-3 hours with your Permanent Makeup Artist on the day of your service. We do recommend scheduling a consultation before your everlasting eyeliner session, however, if that is not an option--a consultation to discuss any concerns,  your desired style and outcome will be done at your appointment. Your technician will discuss style and color options and help guide you to determine what will perfectly enhance your unique features. Once you have agreed on a direction, your liner will be mapped and after you approve the look, your session will begin.

During the session, your eyes will remain closed and your technician will have a strong, but comfortable grip stretching your eyelid to ensure the needle guides smoothly. This will also keep the eyelid from fluttering open during the procedure. It is possible for some of the products to get into the eye. However, the products are specifically designed for this procedure, and are considered safe if they were to run into the eye. However, we have eyewashes on hand should you need your eyes flushed at any point during the procedure.

A common concern is, “How painful is it?” The pain of everlasting eyeliner is very mild. On a scale of 1-10, most clients would rate it as a 2. The pain you experience will be lessened by numbing cream, which is applied both before the service as well as during the procedure. If you’ve had a tattoo before, rest assured, permanent makeup is much less painful because it doesn’t go as deep into the skin.

after your appointment...

THE HEALING PROCESS

Immediately after your appointment, your eyelids will be a little tender with some slight bleeding and drainage of lymphatic fluid. To avoid buildup and thick scabs, gently blot this drainage away with a clean tissue every 10 minutes for the first few hours. Some swelling and redness is common and will usually subside within a few hours to a couple of days.

During the first phase of the healing process, it is completely normal for the pigment to look darker and your liner to look thicker than your desired final color and style for the first few days than it will after it has completely healed.

Another sometimes surprising yet completely normal part of the healing process is called “The Ghosting Phase”. During this phase, the pigment settles into your skin as the top layers begin to shed, causing the pigment to appear lighter or even vanish. Trust that this is part of the healing process and eventually, the pigment will re-emerge, and your liner will settle into its final, natural-looking color.

TOUCH UPS AND COLOR BOOSTS

An initial touch-up is included in the price of your service and we recommend scheduling that session after 4-8 weeks once your liner is completely healed.

While it may be daunting to schedule a touch-up since you will go through another similar (though some clients report faster) healing process, it is important because everyone heals differently so the outcomes will vary. During your touch-up, your artist will address any color issues, such as fading or unevenness, and ensure your liner has your desired result.

However, if you are completely happy with your lips by 6 weeks and you do not notice any patchiness or uneven color, feel free to skip this appointment.

A Color Boost is recommended every 12-18 months. Pigment fades over time, so regular touch-ups are necessary to maintain the color and definition and to prolong the lifespan of your service.
